Disgusting Misleading Article

Post by pufferpuggirl »

Hi,
My husband was looking around at some different information about some of the community fish we have, and after he was done, I decided to look at the information this one particular webpage had on puffers. I was appalled and disgusted by the way the writer presents puffers. He obviously doesn't know much about what he's talking about.

I thought I would post it here so others could see what I mean:

http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Brackish%20Water%20IV.htm

I think you will agree with me that it's not very well written and some of the photos are hideous. I've written an email responding to this disgusting article.

Well, if that's how he keeps them, no freaking WONDER they never got over 3"! What was the e-mail address you wrote to?
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Could you believe letting those GSP's (or was it F8's) killing and eating that Goldfish?

The address is I think (I clicked on it from another page): LA_Aqualand@msn.com
Or maybe look up LA Aqualand. They do information on a wide range of things, but after reading that about the puffers, I would not take anything they said as truth. :(

Ugh yeah I came across that site when I was researching Fig 8's. Not a pleasant read by far and grossly inaccurate.

I'm learning that puffer fish are like pringles. There is no such thing as only wanting one.

Those puffers ARE eating another puffer in the pic where it says they aren't. Anyone can start up their own misleading website, I'm afraid. :(

I think that site has come up a few times on the forums here as an awful example of how NOT to inform people; it's a shame it's still going (I think I remember people bringing it up a year or two ago even).

I'm glad one of our modetors said something. I can't believe any of the smaller puffers would eat a fish, unless they were starving. They also had about 100 gsp in that 40 gallon or whatever it is. Shame shame.

Well it's basically an LFS giving out information sheets over the web. We all know how typically useless they are when giving out accurate information in person, so it's probably unsurprising all considered.

That's true, my LFS owner told me I could keep 3 irrubesco in my 5 gallon. I wish there was an all-puffer store.

How's that move of the DPs going to your 10g? They should be in there by now, right?
