F8 was kept in freshwater at petstore, how to transition?

Post by thejoie »

I took the PLUNGE into another puffer! This time I got a F8 puffer for a 20 gallon tank.
I found out at a pet store - she looks GREAT! Bright yellow, black markings, nice white round belly!! Active!! Came RIGHT up to the glass to see me! I was like.. yep.. that's the one!
I asked if they kept her in brackish water now. She's pretty much full grown (I'd say nearly 3 inches). How fast should I start introducing the salt... Do you think she's been kept in fresh all her life? Is that good??

She's absolutely BEAUTIFUL! And sooo active!!

You can bring hte SG of your water up by .002 per week. If you go above that you will kill your biological filter. If the F8 is full grown you can take him up to where he should be fairly quick.

Gotcha...
She's really active! She's literally doing circles around the tank checking everything out! She's absolutely stunning!! She's even more active than my Dwarf Puffer is!

Well- long story short...
My boyfriend and I bought a house. We were too scared to move the 30 gallon. Good thing my dad wanted it. So we're keeping it at his house till we can save enough money for at least a 90 gallon :-D

The move was rough. I lost two of my DP's during it :( and NONE of the stores in the area have good looking dwarf puffers....

But now I have my new 20 gallon with the Figure 8.

It's good to be back!! I love seeing all the new puffers!

Well, whenever you get that 90g set up & are looking for frags... ;)

Sorry about your DPs, that was one of the nicest-looking planted tanks I've ever seen. Any puffer would be happy to live in one of your tanks!
