how fast do SA puffers grow?

At least to 1/2 adult size within 18 months, full size within 2 1/2 years. Both can be reached faster than this however with good water and feeding.

Or you can get a stunted one like mine... Its been at least 2 years and he's still barely over an inch long, poor little buggar. Dewormed, nitrates always under 10, lightly stocked 29 gallon tank with live plants and snails daily... don't know what I did wrong or if I just got a stunted little buggar.

Knowing how LFS's carry their stock, your little guy was probably stunted before you had him in his little bag floating in your tank.
