So I got scared for my little puffer!!

I saw him tweaking out and his tail was curled and stomach darker then usual. I didn't two week cycle my tank so I got really scared because even though its only been two days me and my g/f have already fell in love with our green puffer. We have been visiting him at the store for the past week and a half. So I went and bought the bacteria tetra instant cycle product. I also bought tablets for internal parasites, because when he was at the store he had a very flat stomach and ick! So we have been feeding him ghost shrimp, snails + Bloodworms and his belly finally has some size. I've noticed a green "slime" growing on two of the structures in his tank, and I tested the Nitrate levels + Ammonia levels and they are reading 0 so do you think my tank cycled correctly?

Also how often/how much should I feed him. He was looking sickly so I have fed him a little more then normal most likely, till I saw his belly round out. He is also being treated for the Ick + Parasites, Hopefully the treatments were successful!

Do you have any nitrate? If you added Safestart to the tank at the same time as the puffer (what size tank?) & he's been in there for a few days & ammonia/nitrate are 0 & you have some nitrate, then it's good to go.

I'm trying to test the nitrite, but the kit I bought, was missing the color chart. Its API, and the site doesn't seem to have one I can print out. (tank size was 29 gallons). there is a little picture on the side of the box and its looks like the top block color so hopefully thats zero. im going to get a nitrate test today. if i have nitrate that means im good? right?

Having nitrates, along with a reading of 0 for ammonia and nitrites, is a sign that the tank is cycled.

If your nitrite test is light blue, then you have zero nitrites. Lavender is .25, and .5 and up is magenta, going from light to bright.
