Tetraodon cutcutia Common Puffer

Post by northfish »

Hi,

I am setting up a 29 gallon tank and looking at puffers. Does anyone have a Tetraodon cutcutia or Common Puffer? I saw them in Pufferpedia but am not finding any threads on them. Advise?

Thanks

I don't think anyone here has seen one of those species available for sale for quite some time.

Look at the thumbnails under the profile in the 'Pedia. Some of them might say "Specimen owned by [username]." You could track down the owner and ask them. Usually, folks are willing to share the puffer-love and tell you whatever you want to know.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I had a pair of these a while ago, i had them breeding and every thing, great puffer fish. I am sad to say i lost them both and was not able to raise the fry at that time. I would like another pair again. I know at my shop we would be able to get them in again, problem with most puffers is that any shops that get them in dont seem to sell them fast and then end up being in the shop for a while. I have seen them on the lists a few times at the moment.
