SAPs in a 29 gallon

Post by northfish »

Hi,

There seems to be some discussion about whether or not a small group of SAP (say 3) would be ok in a 29 gallon tank. Thoughts?

I am setting up a 29 and am looking for non nocturnal or hiding options. Thanks!

I kept a trio in a 36G which though bigger isn't really by much. A trio should be fine; they may get bored if the footprint of the tank is small though: is this a 29G long, or tall? Long is better. They are frantic, avid, active, swimmers and will need and use every inch of the space you give them.

Plant it up well, give it lots of current, and you should have some happy puffers.

A 29g holds only 25, so that's an 11g difference. I wouldn't try them in the 29. A better option might be figure 8s or dwarf puffers. Red-eyed and irrubescos are also nice. You could even have an Abei.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

It's a 29 high so it sounds like that won't work. Back to Pufferpedia....

Thanks for the help!
