Couldnt pass this chance buy

I believe i bought a stars and stripes puffer yesterday only small about 3 to 3.5 inch,s big i know my tank is not big enought for Big Daddy (what we have called it) when he grows on but i am looking to upgrade to what say to the misses will be 6foot but will is 8foot by next year .

he was advertised as a dog face puffer please have a look and let me know what he was i thought i had a steal at that price so i couldnt say no i have never seen one in my shops either so i had to take this oppurtunity

it is a stars & stripes tho aint it. its not a type of dogface or anything like they had it advertised as

I thoght it had to be there is no mistaking them really but i thought i would check as the guys in the shop seem to be really on top of things normally
anyone got any diet tips as he is feeding well cockels no shells, prawns brine shrimp anything that touchs the water reall but i was think of try to introduced shelled cockells shortly what you think

everything except shelled cockells is what i have in the house at the mo

Yes you got yourself a nice star and stripes looks like the Hawaiian variation. Tank size the bigger the better for this guy 180 gallons minimum they grow to about 17 inches. They usually aren't picky when it comes to food but here are some ideas. All food raw, muzzles on shell, shell on shrimp, smelt, scallops, crab, earth worms ( grocery store usually sell what is called a frozen raw seafood melody which is great) ect ect.

great looking puffer!

its NOT the hawaiian version! i should know! i have TONS of pics of hawaiian stars and stripes puffers almost all of them have stripes. in fact they call it the stripe belly puffer here!!
i'm busy thinking of ways to remember what i was going to say

They look exactly the same yeah i know he/she will get big plan on getting a 8ft next year especially now i have big daddy (hope its a boy) is there any way to tell i may have to change the name to big mamma.

will he be ok with the shells at his current size of around 3 - 3.5 inches

I have Elvis in a 156g tank with a 55g sump right now. He's about 11" long nose to tip of tail. The tank is 5' long 24" wide.
He has plenty of turning room and he's still growing. :D

Elvis has a lot brighter and more yellow than big daddy is that something that comes with age or gender
