Green Spotted Puffer and False Pecula Clownfish?

Post by Puffer Chick »

Has anybody kept them together successfully? The tank is not yet setup or anthing but it is a 47 gallon column tank and will be a FOWLR system, and maybe some green star polyps. I've always wanted a clownfish but my puffer is aggressive and has killed mulitple fish in the past. But now that he will be in a larger tank i'm thinking he might be ok. Will the Clownfish hold it's own against the puffer? I know it's really risky and there will probably a lot of fighting for a while but has anybody been successfull?

I added 2 to my adult GSPs tank & there was only 1 the next day. Others have had better luck. I'd go with a tougher clown, like a tomato.

i just did a little research about them and i don't mind that their a bit agressive as my puffer is pretty agressive, but my question is the different minimum tank size some sites are saying 20 and some are 30 gallon and that they get to 5.5 inches.

Would both still work in a 47 tall?

i'm also thinking about the maroon clownfish as they sound like their personalities are very similar to puffers and get about the same size, my only concern though is as with the tomato clown the min tank suggestion is 30 gal where i only have a 47 gall

If you don't have the minimum size, don't do it. :) With two such aggressive fish, I'd also leave a cushion of extra space between them. Bigger is always better. Also, a tall has less horizontal space, which means less terratory for them to argue over. I'd stick with just the GSP. :)

Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Just put tons of decor in there & both of you will be happy. The tank won't look so empty & he'll have lots to explore!

i may end up putting 80 pounds of live rock in the new tank, although i'm not really sure how to setup the rock when i get it, especially since the tank is only 20 inches wide and not really much space at the bottom of the tank, which means there won't be much room for my lil guy to sleep in the sand, but maybe he'll sleep on the rocks like he try's to do with his current decor

If you're getting that much LR, get most of it "dead" and bring it back to like in your tank. You only need a pound per gallon to handle the bioload, so buy that much "live" and get the rest "dead." You'll save a ton of money that way.
