Well with the tank side I have had no luck. My only options so far as can not get anything big enough till next month would be the plastic critter keeper. I have a filter for it but would be concerned about the heater. Or the other option of a plastic divider, can rearrange do you have to have a filter both sides of the divide or has it qualities that allow water, filtration and heat to flow through?

He would also only have a couple of plants his side and would it stress him out more by being by himself and being able to see the others. I have rung the local stores but they will not take him.. I find it so bizarre that he was the one I was worried about to begin with being dominent, the others have taken over him now in leaps and bounds and clearly alot more dominant than him :(

The only other option is anyone on here near me in Bournemouth would want him, but doubt there would be, also not willing to post as no experience. I could also try posting on some other sites to see, but would value people's opinion on here first.

P.S. Some days he is fine others not, twice caught him really pale, he generally has always been the loner of the pack, sleeping by himself. Recently seen him being chased odd times by females, nothing harmful jsut boundaries..

Oh forgot to say have a spare 38 litre which will be setting up with guppies in a month. Reason asking on 3 filters total in the tank so can temporarily solution to set this up for him and get him a 5 gallon for himself next month. (dont know why did not think of it before). My options now are:

EDIT further to say a wonderful person has sold me a second hand 5 g which can get at earliest Friday, little relieved, can now move him safely hope he will be ok for the next 3 days.

OK to place in with squeezing of filter media and do daily water changes to settle in, thanks guys for guiding me through all this :)

Right so his 5 gallon will be here Friday, the filter for it is running and have the 25w ready to go. I will add some plants from the main tank, good to go?

He is still very pale today and in his fav spot amongst the plants away from the others. He won't come to feed with them anymore. Tried feeding them one end distracted whilst got some to him, don't think he ate any. His stomach is not flat as he did eat yesterday. Will he be ok till Friday? Could emergency put him in the 38 litre but filter for that one not ready and would really not have much in it, also thought would be too stressful to move him there for two days and then move again Friday into another tank.

Any help appreciated, really really sorry with all my palavas :(

I think he'll be fine till Friday. Remember, puffers can go for a long time without eating and still be fine.

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Slight new development. He has been hiding and pale all week no eating. This morning he has much better colour and swimming about more. I will see if he eats this evening and then go from there and decide if needs moving or not..

Confused now! LOL glad he has some colouration back.

Mine change color all the time, Thumbelina more so than James Bond. Maybe he just does it more than the others?

Well the tank was set up last night and moved him as he still wasnt eating, will leave tonight and attempt to feed tomorrow with fingers crossed.

p.s. set the tank up with tank water from main, the filter which has been running in main, plants from main with few new additons. He has hidden in his fav plant straight away and hope he will come out tomorrow and that he may feed.

Yes, I agree with LilGreenPuffer, puffers in general change colour for a number of reasons, don't worry too much about that. Your little guy may just be going through a spell, my suvattii are always worrying me because they decide not to eat sometimes a full week or more, then it's back to normal again. I think they like to keep me on my toes! :)
