I have a 55 gallon tank with 2 1" A. silus, 2 danio and a candy pleco. I also have a 30 gallon with ~8 neons, a XL tetra, a frog, molley, platy, Indian dwarf puffer, and a few shrimp and ottos. I was wondering if anyone had an idea for the best way to travel these guys 50min up the freeway to a new house? I was thinking of keeping the fish in the tanks and lowering the water down to about a few inches and putting htem in a back seat of a quadcab truck. Should i keep them in the tanks? take them out in bags????
Any help would be GREATly appriciated!

Re: Transporting FISH
A good way to transport them is in a Styrofoam cooler. Get at least two, keeping the tank populations apart, since the 55g and 30g inhabitants might not get along if they were mixed. If you want to, you can get a battery-operated air pump and put some airstones in there, but I don't think that would be necessary on such a short trip. You won't need a heater, since the coolers will keep the temperature steady for well over the 50min they'll be in there.
If those shrimp are ghost shrimp, you might want to bag those, since they'll be hard to find when you're looking into the water from above.

Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Re: Transporting FISH
I will never move a tank larger than 30 gallons with water and/or substrate in it. The whole bottom can easily fall out. Too much twisting on the frame when you have a different person on each end. If you carry it on a board, maybe.
Not to mention, you have no idea how heavy that sucker will be, even with just a few inches of water
There's an article in our library about moving fish and tanks, that might help you some.

Very. I know from experience that a 10g with water and substrate was too big for me (I was only sliding it across a table!), and even my gung-ho workout-freak dad had trouble when I was moving out of my dorm. I had to make him empty it so he wouldn't drop it. *sigh* A single gallon of water weighs 8.4lbs; you do the math!
