Quick Fix? Aggressive DP

Post by lilacamy931 »

Hi everyone
Well all 4 of my DPs are growing well, my miniman is growing up fast to match the big daddy. Unfortunately this morning I have witnessed big daddy attacking miniman, going for him, chasing, he also has done it on the small female.. I know the recommendation in one of my other threads is to take one of the males out (think it will be big daddy, he is just mean) but the problem I have is no spare tank currently and not likely to have one for 2 and a half weeks till next payday.

I have a spare 25 w heater (for just in case moments) and a small sponge filter thing. For a temporary 2-3 week sitting what can I use around the house to put him in temporarily and how set up? These are my options:

1.I have a small critter plastic container but it is extremely small and this is really needed for the snails arriving Tuesday.

2. Have just won a 5g (believe its 5 g) corner tank off Ebay that will be getting next week, it is for my partners Betta we are getting beginning of August.. we need to cycle it. If he is agreeable (it is his tank and Im fine if he isnt agreeable).

3. Get a storage clear container to keep him in for 3 pound. (Either that or a bucket)

4. Lastly but probably bad? Get a fry container thing to sit in the tank and separate but couldn't imagine this would be good.

I may be too panicky, as today it would have been one week in total of having them, but hmmmm...worried about when not here.

(when around they will all come to the front and generally behave, big daddy backing off others gently) but when I peeked round a corner to watch them this is when I saw the bad behaviour.

I would either use the spare tank or do the fry container (just make sure he can't jump out or squeeze into any corners, the net ones would work nicely).

If you use a plastic container, the heater could actually melt through it, so you'd need to attach the heater to a piece of glass or acrylic leaning against the side of the bin (under water) so the hot part doesn't get too close.

Another tank. The fry container wouldn't be a happy place for him. :(
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."
