Does this habitat look suitable????
Its fairly basic with moss attached etc, but they seem happy enough. Its 29 inches X 15 inches X 12 inches for 2 f8 puffers.

Maybe a little more planting, since they love to explore, but it looks good! I don't know the math, but it sounds big enough.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

The rule of thumb for F8s is 15g for the first, and 10g per additional F8.

Is that the case with all puffers? My puffer tank doesn't have a background. Its a hexagon tank, though. He usually hides in the back or one of the holes in the big rock. I did, however, put a black background on the other tank next to it- partly for looks but also so the fish couldn't see each other in the separate tanks.yunachin wrote:A background will help them feel more secure.

Re: Does this habitat look suitable????
Sure, but you don't need it when they're used to their environment and not undergoing stress. My puffers don't need one anymore; I use one because the blue looks better than my yellow wall.

Re: Does this habitat look suitable????
I feel a little bit foolish saying this, but the top cover for the tank looks like a piece of styrofoam to me in the picture
I'm pretty sure it isn't, but just in case (with a slim chance) that it is, it may insulate the heat a little too well....(I already know that I'm wrong so please pardon my bad interpretation)
The tank looks nice!

Its just a piece of tin foil that reflects my innadequate lighting until my new hood light etc arrives (its being made)
I have since added 3 more times the planting, its now very busy but theyve no interest in hiding so thats good, theyre just looking at me contantly waiting, but even though i have a nice shelled king prawn in the freezer they will have to wait until tommorow night.

Re: Does this habitat look suitable????
Well they `are very happy just now, but i will always have theyre happiness as my priority. If they need bigger theyll get bigger. I have now put another 8 plants in the tank some surface variety and some tall planted front middle and back to make the swim more windy, and alot more grassy types, making it essential to forridge, i hide muscles in pots and snails are put in when no-one is looking, however it takes 20 seconds for them to realise
im gonna look at a 4 foot tank placement in my house within the next 6-8 months for them, and that will be the one slowly turned to brackish.
Thanks for all the advice im happy now that im looking after them well.

Wow! The big one sounds great! You could even have tankmates in there, like bumble bee gobies.

Re: Does this habitat look suitable????
To update, my puffer tank is now packed with plants and hollow log deco, one that floats around at the top, they love swimming through it and it keeps theyre interest, it moves in the filter current and i hide food in it, funny watching them trying to negotiate access.
