Decisions, decisions...........

Post by thekarens »

So, I can't make up my mind.... currently available in my lfs is red-eye puffers (irrubesco and lorteti), suvatti, congos and fahaka. I'm having a tough time deciding which I really want. I currently have a 20g, 40g and 90g tank available and could upgrade to a 120g later if I want the fahaka. The congo is sooo cute and I could get him and another one, but he's $70 and I'm not sure I can justify the cost when I know he'll hide in the sand and I'll never see him. The suvatti is cool and only $40 but again I'm afraid he'd hide in the sand. The irrubesco are adorable! But I'm concerned I may not enjoy a little puffer as much as a bigger one. The fahaka is a tiny little thing and I fell in love when he tried to bite me through the glass when I put my finger on the tank, but do I want to deal with upgrading? I think an abei would probably be perfect, but I've never seen one available. If I had the time and funds I'd just get one of everything! ;)

If they had had a red one I would have snapped it up! ;) There's a very pretty "speckled" one. He's yellow with brown spots. There's two others that are a reddish brown. One is TINY, only about 1.5 inches.

that's to tough! why can't you just get all of them? ;)
I personally would probably go for a congo, cause they don't take too much, and are very cool.
or a fahaka if I had the space or tank for it. :)

Annabelle is a very smart puffer. How can you not like a puff that tries to bite you? ;)

Irrubesco!!!! Oh my god I would be pulling out the credit card and buying a whole new tank setup if I found some for sale, they can be SO hard to find in the US.

A fahaka would be tempting too, but I really hate to see anyone use the phrase "I could upgrade in the future"..

Don't worry, I have a 90g and I don't think a 2 inch fahaka could outgrow it before i could find a suitable 120g. :)

I wouldn't worry about "not enjoying" a smaller puffer. Mine are still under an inch, and they make me laugh every day.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

There were some Irrubesco's at my LFS the other day. Unfortunately I got my eyes on a Congo. :P

Did you find Congos locally or did you decide to come to Houston?
