SAP small juvenile fish

Post by Science »

Does anyone ever raise extremely tiny juvenile SAPs to mature-sized individuals? I have recenly encountered some very tiny (supposingly) SAPs in one of our local aquariums in Hong Kong. The fishes are very small (more or less the same sizes as dwarf puffers). Can they be raised from such small sizes? And how long will they grow into adulthood?

I have kept three 5-6 cms SAPs and one of them died recently without any apparent signs (apart from full tummy and refuse to eat for a few days). I fed them with ghost shrimps and bloodworms. Maybe it died of igestion of large shells of shrimps?

THX :D

I would think you could raise them from that size, but I'm not sure how larger SAPs would react. They might bully the little ones. On the other hand, they're generally very "nice" fish.

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

The only problem you might have is trimming their teeth if they are really small, since they maybe hard to handle???

^ honestly i'm not sure??? i think it depends on each puffer and diet..., but i guess keeping an eye out on their teeth and feeding them a hard shelled diet should help cut down the time between trimmings???

I think the average is once every six months.
