So last night, my beloved puffer of six months jumped out of tank to his death. I found him this morning behind his tank. The tank had a lid, he jumped out of the RIDICOUSLY small opening my tank lid had for the filter and the heater. I know puffers are known for being jumpers, but has this ever happened to anyone else? Should I have covered up this opening?

This was a bad start to the say. :( Poor little guy. :(

You can get some heavy-duty screen from the hardware store, and cut pieces to fit around the gaps in your hood. Around here they call it hardware cloth, but basically it's just wire screen and it's available in fine mesh or large mesh. Very cheap, and works well.
