Mine lives with a Tomato Clown, and the clown seems to be the bully in the tank. And a yellow watchman goby...he hides a lot.

My GSP shares her tank with a Picasso trigger half her size. Seems OK so far, although the trigger tends to hog the food during feeding time.

I do not approve of this.. however.
In my bf's brackish (1.006 or so) tank, he has
3 giant danios
2 tetra
2 types of loach
1 pleco
4 cory cats
3 violet gobies
and 2 gsp.
he was keeping an peacock eel until it jumped.
The only fish that get messed with are the danios, cuz they steal food away from the GSPs while they're eating.

Re: What Fish Have You Kept With GSPs
I have a 2" GSP that I have kept in exactly 1.015 brackish water successfully with five Mollies. This was at the time a 20 gallon tank. I actually started with three mollies, but through time and their prolific breeding eventually two survived. The GSP never bothered them or vice versa but I did end up removing them. I thought with all the breeding they did I'm sure my puffer had more then enough fry and I just don't see it being a great thing I guess. The mollies destroyed most of the fry themselves, but something to consider. My other reason for removing was the excess ammonia I'm sure they contribute by feeding them their own food. Originally the only reason I did keep mollies for a short time was that I heard mollies are pretty adaptable, living in fresh water all the way to full marine, and that they would eat some types of algae. 1.015 was as high as I went though. Hope the info helps.

Re: What Fish Have You Kept With GSPs
Well, I need to amend what I posted above. I've noticed the trigger chasing Cuddles away from food, so I've been having to feed the trigger on one end of the tank, while sneaking some food to Cuddles on the other end. She seems to be hiding more, and doing things like staying up at the top near the filter or staying down in one of the corners. When she's swimming around and the trigger approaches her, she jets off to get away from him, and in addition it appears she's got some small chunks taken out of her caudal fin...so, it's back to the store with him since the only other tank I have that I could put him in has my Ceylon in it, who has already made it clear that he does *not* appreciate tankmates. I hate to lose him, because he's such a cutie and has tons of personality - but my puffers come first.

Mollies are great, cheap and I've slowly raised the SG from 1.06-1.022 and the mollies are still fine. They bread, keep the algea down and then my puffers keep the population in check.xmikebrock wrote:im keeping them in a SG of 1.015 until they get to the marine size prolly

Interestingly enough my GSP has worked best with a pair of Blue Damsels and an algae blenny in my 55g marine tank, and so far hes lived with a cleaner shrimp for 2 weeks and hasnt bothered it but im sure that will change when he gets larger(hes 3" now) unless he establishes some kind of relationship with it. The GSP was too aggressive for any fw or brackish fish that I've had him with.

No offense ,but this sounds like a recipe for disaster. You should remove the cleaner shrimp from this tank as soon as possible before the puffers instincs kick in or risk losing an expensive aquarium inhabitant. Puffers love to eat crustaceans.seventy wrote:Interestingly enough my GSP has worked best with a pair of Blue Damsels and an algae blenny in my 55g marine tank, and so far hes lived with a cleaner shrimp for 2 weeks and hasnt bothered it but im sure that will change when he gets larger(hes 3" now) unless he establishes some kind of relationship with it.
