Re: I'm beyond excited..
It is AU.. and they have already said that they're not getting anything like this in again.
It's come down to them just wanting it to have a good home... which it now does.
I brought him home. I'm waiting on a params test to see how my ammonia is.. I got plants and gravel from the tank he was in.. so hopefully that will help with the lack of cycle.
The guy (who will remained unnamed) that I've been talking to about this fish helped me out a ton. The other people there that dealt with me were very good. They understood my concern and actually didn't make me feel as crazy as I have been feeling.
I'll post pics and updates as much as I can. I hope he's not too far gone. Since he still has an appetite, I'm thinking things will be fine. I hope!
if not, I've learned my lesson.

Re: I'm beyond excited..
They've had plenty of Mbu's in the past. If they are telling the truth, maybe they've learned these fish require a lot of care and will stop carrying them. I doubt it, but its good to think positive.
Good luck with the fish and I hope you manage to find a home for it.

Re: I'm beyond excited..
thanks..
I've only ever seen 2 there, since I've been frequenting.. which hasn't been that long. I've talked to a bunch of the people there and they've all assured me that they won't be getting any more in. If they do, there will be a HUUUGE fuss raised.
I know it's a bad idea to buy a sick fish. I know.
I hope to have a better story than most of them.

Re: I'm beyond excited..
he ate half a clam.. after I wiggled it in front of his face..
he only moves when I go have a look at him. His little eyes check me out and his fins flap.
He's not holding his dorsal fin up at all, tho, and he won't fan out his tail. Come to think of it, I've never seen him fan his tail.
I'm gonna feed him again in an hour or so, see if he'll take some more food.

Hey lilgirlkat
That's great that you've finally got him
Naboo doesn't fan his tail that much, he sometimes gives it a stretch when I go over and look at him, probably trying to look cute to get food
Naboo also lets his dorsal fin lay on his back when he's resting/digesting.
Are you at home during the day time at the moment? I'm sure you were probably gona do this anyway but I'd check his water every day, also syphon any left over food he leaves
I'm sure he'll settle in fine by the end of the week, the fact that he's eatting is a great sign
I was going to post the pic you emailled me but thought I'd let you show him off when you're ready

Re: I'm beyond excited..
I was hoping you got that pic.
You can post it, if you'd like. He's a pretty little guy, which is why I hope he makes it.
My friend's daughter wants me to name him Mick.
I can't seem to get a good pic of him in his tank quite yet. He hasn't moved from the spot he sunk into when I put him in.
I'm about to feed him again.
The half clam he ate earlier left a nice little lump in his belly, but that lump is already pretty gone. IP treatments it is!

He's the same length as Naboo then!
He's got a bit of catching up on the width side of things though

Good luck with the little guy!
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."
