ok -- I just heard back from my friend.. still hasn't told me how big the tank is, but is saying he's looking for something like $1000 for it with all the things he has to go with it.

is this kinda set up something I can run without a cover? are MBUs jumpers, I can't see them being jumpers, but I thought I'd ask.

If I have a 40 gallon I can set up and cycle now, would it be ok until I can get this massive tank?

I would say, get the big tank into the house, then get the mbu, put it in the 40, cycle the big one, and move him.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

$1000 like to much money to me, even if it has a big external filter or sump and cabenet that comes with it.

Get your friend to measure the tank in inches and then post the measurements here and we can work out exactly how much it holds

Personally I think you should buy all the stuff from craigeslist and Ebay

Like Flashdan said really big tanks sell for very low prices because not many people have the room for them

I was a little confused, too.

But - what tank is in question? The only ones lilgirlkat has mentioned are 40g and an unknown one. We don't know that it's nearly double 67g in size...?

Ohhhhh. Gotcha.

I wonder if it wouldn't be better to skip the 130, though? For issues of practicality, I mean. I wouldn't want to move a foot-long fish, one that can't be exposed to air for fear of it inflating with said air, from one tank to another, and you would have one less setup to create from scratch. Of course, the big one would require more maintenance, so that would be up to you.
