Fiddlers!
Fiddlers!
So my GSP is a very calm thing not very aggresive at all, and i was wondering if i put a fiddler crab in his tank he would eat it? I don't want him to get cut in half but i don't think i could go about de clawing the little thing and my LFS sells them claws on
Re: Fiddlers!
I'm sure that others are more knowledgeable on the subject than my, but my understanding is, yes! From what I have read, GSP's will go crazy on a fiddler, but again, I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule. Declawing it would be a good idea since puffers are slow moving, but if you are not OK with doing that maybe the LFS would be? Also, are you looking for a crunchy food or do you want it to stay in the tank as an inhabitant?Lokemer wrote:So my GSP is a very calm thing not very aggresive at all, and i was wondering if i put a fiddler crab in his tank he would eat it? It's a 50/50 chance he becomes dinner. I wouldn't pull off his claws either as that can cause pain for the crab. The only way to know is to try it out.

Re: Fiddlers!
i want the fiddler to be a crunchy snack, but the puffer is very timid, i am going to get the crab soon maybe around sat-wed, should i get more than one? or will one be enough to fill him up

Re: Fiddlers!
Do one for now to see what he will do. You don't want to get a whole bunch then have a crab factory because he doesn't want to eat them.

Re: Fiddlers!
My 2 GSP thought the fiddler I put in was tasty- torn off the legs and then played fishy football with the body before eating it
Re: Fiddlers!
sounds interesting! if they dont eat his ill just drop the little crab in with the oscars in my other tank, lol

Hey Lokemer
I thought my Mbu Naboo was quite timid and slow moving untill I put a crab in his tank. He went nuts, he was so quick and did a load of amazing maneuvers to get round the claws! he looked like an Apache helicopter
So yes I would get them if I were you, If you want to buy more than one you can keep the rest in a baby box floating at the top of your tank

ok, well i will love to see how it goes!
Re: Fiddlers!
i am litteraly almost crying i am laughing so hard right now, my puffer approached the crab very carefully and took a couple nips at it and jsut turned around and swam away, now the crab is pretending to be king of the tank as it is sitting on a moss ball, lol

They will either figure out how to eat it or loose intrest and become their pet.

Re: Fiddlers!
oh, you just wait a while......the crab will eventually be dinner. It might take a week, it might take a year or two...but one day.....
Re: Fiddlers!
lol, what should i feed the crabs while i wait for them to be eaten?
Re: Fiddlers!
speak of the eating of crabs i look back to my tank and look just in time to see my puffers suck the eyeball out of one of the crabs and then swim away!
