Strange Mbu Ailment

Read this before posting!!
Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.
1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.
2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.
3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)
4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.
5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.
We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.
While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.
Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

I would just have a fear that if they don't have a lot of room, they could become aggressive with each other.

Well, I assume that they say 1000g because thats the width it would need to make turns in in an aquarium.....
But on the other hand....my readings tell me that mbu's are crazy aggressive, even with their own kind....or am I mixing it up with something else..?

I've been working out the best 1000g tank dimentions so as to keep costs down with lighting and still giving the Mbu a lot of room and I think the best dimentions for a 1000g tank are 10ft wide x 2ft high x 5.5ft deep (it's actually 988usg but close enough). This means your lights don't have to penetrate through to deeper water and also gives the Mbu plenty of turning room. I measured this out and it's huuuge, would look amazing!

Yeah, I think mbus are pretty docile.

Both, these fish need a lot of swimming room & a TON of dilution.

Yes, these fish have a HUGE bioload, they need the big tanks for both swimming room and to just try to keep the water levels non-toxic.
I had a Figure 8 puffer that would get a prolapsed rectum after a big meal sometimes. After a day or so, it would go back to where it was supposed to be, and he never had any problems due to it. However, he never had that bright red ring of irritated skin around it either.
I'd say keep the water pristine, deworm and feed smaller, more frequent feedings (avoid huge meals all at once), and see how it goes.

Adding 1 tbsp Epsom salt/10g, may help with the swollen tissue.

Thanks for all the input! The sick puffer has recovered... treated (both, just to be safe) with Gel-Tek Ultra Cure PX for 3 days and it got better right away.
150g: 5 archerfish, 1 ornate bichir, 1 yoyo botia, 5 farlowellas, 1 fire eel, 1 silver arowana, 3 leopard bush fish, 1 green scat, 2 baby mbu puffers
75g saltwater: fuzzy dwarf lion, panther grouper, who knows?
46g Brackish (turning into growout soon!): 1 mono, 1 brackish moray eel, 1 GSP, 1 dragon goby, 5 knight gobies, 4 black mollies, 4 sailfin mollies
18g quarantine: 3 baby thinbar dats
25g quarantine tub: 3 p. endlicheri, 2 yoyo botias, 1 red-lip botia, 2 sailfin mollies
75g saltwater: fuzzy dwarf lion, panther grouper, who knows?

That looked really painfull!
I'll have to get one of you guys from the US to send me some Gel-Tek Ultra Cure PX one day as it seems like good stuff!
Have you got any pix/vids of both of your Mbu's hilltopperpete, I'd love to see them in another thread?
