Help! Tiny GSP

Post by Idontknow »

I just inherited a tiny GSP from my mother-in-law. She went to a game center and won what was advertised as a "Abeni" puffer (dwarf puffer). However, when I got and took a second glance at it, it wasn't a DP at all. It was a tiny GSP. It is about the same size as a juvenile DP...maybe even smaller. I think a DP dwarfs it. It's just eyes and a tail.

It came in freshwater. When I was setting up its tank I started to make it low end brackish, but thought better of it. Should I wait until it gets to at least a half inch before raising the SG? Or should I do it immediately? I wouldn't hesitate to put in a larger GSP right away, but wanted to get some advice before putting an infant in brackish.

What do you guys think?

Well, since they've figured out how to breed GSPs, and they spawn in SW, it's possible that it would do fine in brackish. FW has worked just fine through the years, though, so that's what I'd go with. Can you post a picture? It sounds adorable!

Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I think that is a common thing in Japan, right? They did Pacu for I while I believe.

I would say fresh for now but gradually take it up to mid brackish over some time. Perhaps 0.001 every week/every-other week.

She loves it. She named it after Suzanne after a TV personality here who is very cute, but her TV persona is ditzy.

Although, my wife didn't like the idea of me breaking out the 25g tank, that I recently took down. She wanted me to put it in the 5g I had set up for a DP. I told her that Suzanne needs 100L and I'm already 20L short.

I'm glad she likes it. You should be okay for now as the puffer is just a little baby. :D I had figure eights that were dwarf puffer size once.

That must have been cute!

I have never seen a GSP or F8 that small prior to this. No wonder the game center confused them with DPs. When I got Puffo the GSP in my avatar he was small only 1/2 an inch...I thought that was small, but Suzanne can easily fit in his mouth.
