I think someone has been bitten by the puffer bug. I've never seen it......but it does seem to sneak up on you.........then "BAM" you get bitten.
After that the side effects start......MTS (multiple tank syndrome)............After MTS set's in, you can forget it! It's hopeless! You will have this disease for life.

Ha!! three months since I got the bug and eight tanks later!!! bout to move and I cant wait.. a buddies selling me his 150g soon as I get moved!!

Worm feeders are really good, they float around the tank and the puffer has to work to get the worms out and keeps them occupied, it also stops the worms dissapearing into the gravel. I have one for my C.Irrubesco's they love it, my guppies like it too

My thermometer wasn't working correctly- I had it set at 76 and it was 80- so I traded it for a new one. I got one of the cone worm feeders, too. I took them both home and cleaned out the tank- about 1/3 water change. There were 4 or 5 worms I siphoned out of the gravel! Some were still alive. (My water test showed high nitrates or nitrites- not sure which one he tested for.) Added Safestart to the tank after it was all put back together. I also added 6 tiny snails. I'm upset though, that after all that, the last step was to add the worm feeder and worms. I put them in there and they are so small immediately 5 or so came out! I so removed the feeder. Nice idea, but...

Well, Squirt is still doing well. He seems to have attacked the snails as I can't find any. (Must be hiding!) I just fed him a couple worms in the floating feeder, though they both slipped out before he got to them. However, I just saw him attacking something puffer style in the gravel. He has a nice round belly and seems happy. He's a little shy though. I will post a few pix tomorrow that I took. Did a water change yesterday. Might be time for one in a day or two?

If you're doing 50% w/c's, then you shouldn't need to do them more than once a week, unless your tests are telling you otherwise.

The last test showed high nitrites or nitrates- can't remember which. I worry about dead worms and snails.

If it showed high nitrites, do a w/c, at least 50%, now. Like, now. If it was high nitrates, then you should be okay for now. Try to keep nitrates below 20.

Try getting Squirt's attention then adding one worm/snail at a time so he can eat it right away. Ive tossed 2 snails in the tank at once (about the size of my pinky nail) and the only thing that hit the ground was 1 little piece of shell lol.
