They're so fat and cute!

Thanks for the compliments but i thing that the puffers look so nice, is not at least on the brackish Water.

They change to more intensive colors  , my first idea was that the reason is on the light. But now when the twilight cames the colors are the same.

Better colors means that the fish feel better and the only thing that i have change is from normal water to brackish water.

And if the fishes feel better the Project is 100% successful !!!

See this two picture for the same puffer (Hatori):

The first picture i made 3 month ago, Like the same situation 100% for the Puffer = only Puffer in the tank, big enough for them, good food with vitamins and more. Only issued is that is not brackish Water.
Image
Now look the colors after he has changed in brackish Water. The picture is made 1h after he cames in the tank, normally he should be stressed.

Hi Vinc,

Very nice tank! :D

I did a research some time ago and found that F8 puffers don't live in mangrove habitats. They are mostly found in the real low end brackish water (brackish river - where the FW starts to meet the SW). I posted a topic that shows some pictures of tanks trying to replicate their environments:

This is the topic:

Two photos of F8s in brackish river (1-2 g/L of salt), this is a river near Saigon River in Vietnam:

I hope that helps!

Update information

Post by Vinc_rot »

first the negative parts:
The first plants get a lot of problem in the brackish water so that i put them in other tank without salt. Only the mangroves looks fine. No i will try it with Cryptocoryne ciliata - i hope that will work. :)

Also i have some problems with the roods and the withe film on it. Not a big problem, but normally the snails fix this. But not in a putter thank :( . But it looks better the last days, and I thing it will be fine. :?

Positive is that my Schwefelnitratreduktor works without any problems. I test the water that get back in the tank and there a no NO2.

Here a short Picture form today.
Image

Since to today i get a new and the last Figure 8 Puffer in the Tank.

In the moment i don´t know the name for him. I thing about:
General Custer
Ivan
Dschingis Kahn
Vlad Draculea
or maybe Alexander

He has a heard on his Back and i like him form the fist moment if seen him. See the Picutre what i mean.
Image

The only Problem that i see is that he is absolutely focused on Hatori my other Puffer. Everything what Hatori is doing he follow him  . If Hatori hunting a snail he do the same. If Hatori swim up he swim also up, if he swim down he do the same ?!? I have the fear, that Hatori don´t like this.
