he "saved" some violet gobies...

Post by lilgirlkat »

From Walmart today. Four of them.

We went to Walmart. We walked over to the fish section. There they were, "Dragon Eels". My bf was stoked. "Let's get them!! We can put them in my tank.. they're really brackish fish, anyway!! I've always wanted them!" Me being the voice of reason explained to him that it was a bad idea. There was a sick one. This is what started it all. He wanted to "save" the sick one. Once again, I explained to him that bringing a sick fish into his tank can potentially bring in a tank epidemic. Too bad.

We now have 4 violet gobies. He had to buy them all. After all, he was just saving their lives. Otherwise they'd be doomed to live a life with people who didn't know they were brackish....

UGH!! why can't I just have a puppy!?

that is a complete negative.......

he at least let me drip them... but even that was a stretch. They're currently gobbling up a frozen shrimp cube. Apparently Wally World doesn't know what to feed these guys... go figure!

If these guys do well and don't kill off all his fish, I may just add one into my ceylon's tank.

It seems they're big enough that Killa won't mess with them... and there's lotsa hiding spots in there. I'll give them a week or two. :D

I have a big species tank of these...Not for small tanks at all. My Biggest is at least 10 inches at 2 years old, they really do need mid brackish to low marine conditions with a sandy bottom or small grade river gravel. They like to rearrange things constantly....sifting the substrate, creating hidey holes and homes. The brilliant purple is a sign that they are getting healthy and they will stay a mute gray until they feel secure and healthy. As for being a tank mate for a Ceylon, most puffers find the dorsal fin an irresistible ready made snack, they would get harassed constantly. Excellent tank mates are mollies. I'll get pics of my tank up when I get a few minutes, I'm water changing today...
"Darwin swings...annnnnnd a miss. Boy Jim, Chuck's suffered at the plate tonight. He's 0 for 3 and I'm not sure he's recovered from that shoulder pull a few weeks ago. I'll bet the front office is re-thinking that contract."

I've been doing more and more research about them... and I'm hoping to get him to "allow" me to sell them to the LFS...
