Snails Questions?!?!?!

I think there is a chance the MTS snails are eating the eggs of the other species. I'd throw a piece of blanched zuchanni in there one night, wait an hour or so, and pull it out, MTS snails come out in the dark (there might be a lot more of them in there than you think).

What kind of filter are you using too? Sometimes the snails are just dumb and like to lay their eggs on the filter intake, which of course means a lot of them get destroyed.

I think that maybe more frequent, or larger, water changes would help. The eggs aren't as strong as the adults. But this is just a guess.

Myaj I think you are right. I saw eggs on the glass a few days ago and now try are gone. Even the empty sack too. Are you saying I should take out all the mts snails? I have been putting in zuccini and there are a lot of mts snails. More than the pond snails. Could this be the problem?
as for the filter its a hex 7 tank with the adapter so fish don't get stuck to it. not a sponge filter cover or anything special

I have a tiny tank (the smallest critter keeper) with pond snails in it which I feed my puffer. I overfeed the snails daily with peas and whatever else I have on hand (fish food, bloodworms, etc.) I dont have a filter, heater, or anything in there. It's kept a room temperature (around 72 degrees) and I do a 50% wc daily and suck out all the poo and excess food with a turkey baster. I've had this tank up for maybe a week or so and they are poopin out eggs like none other. Last time I checked, there were around 10 egg sacs. From my understanding, I think they reproduce when the conditions are right. I hope it works out for you!

My snail tank is a minbox 2.5 with a tons of pond snails, ramshorns, MTS, and live plants in a sand/gravel substrate, 13 watt bulb above it on 10 hours a day. Pretty good snail supply, I usually see between 50 and 100 egg clutches at any given time, but most of the babies don't seem to make it, I suspect ramshorns past a certain size cannibalize the baby pond snails, who do most of the egg laying. Don't even think it's intentional - the babies coat the algae wafer the big ones feed on, and baby pond snails are easily bite size for nickle-sized ramshorns. I have begun feeding the bigger ramshorns for this reason - shakespeare has no trouble with any size ramshorn. I toss in oyster shell calcium tablets every now and then, they nibble at them for calcium.
