Re: 10 gallons
i think that is christmas moss on the 'tree'.
If you're only going to grow moss then you won't need any special substrate like ADA aquasoil as the roots won't be in the substrate. If you are going for a high light set up then you would require additional CO2 and additional NPK dosing just to make sure that your plants out compete the algae.
but before going crazy with lots of light i would recommend checking out Tom Barrs website http://www.barrreport.com/ to investigate the many different techniques that people use.
I agree with Puffertt77 that injected CO2 would be better than the other methods because you can keep the levels constant.

Re: 10 gallons
I'd like to say that I think everyone should always avoid morimono moss balls. I loved mine, until it started spreading along the substrate. Then it got bumped and moved, and the tearing of the fibers sent TINY moss shreds out into the water. Now it's on EVERYTHING, growing like a long hair algae in a salt water tank, one that won't die from anything, and spreads to every surface in the tank each time you tear a piece off.
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.

Thats a neat tank. I like how it makes the sand look like a river.

This has happened to me. I cannot seem to get little fuzzies off anything!Nick wrote:I'd like to say that I think everyone should always avoid morimono moss balls. I've done some research and this is the original design of a roughly 17 gallon aquarium by a man named Pinheiro Manso. You can find all the information about it, including how he built it and upkeep at http://www.aquascapingworld.com/forum/a ... manso.html

I think that DPs might need more cover than that to hide and stuff

I agree.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."
