Tankmates for my Fahaka "Marley" - IF..
Re: Tankmates for my Fahaka "Marley" - IF..
I've been tempted, but still have not tried any fish. I wish I could afford a MBU, as they can coexist with other fish, but i can't afford it at the moment. Thanks for all the replies and that picture of that Jack Dempsey... - that is sad. Chances are I won't try getting any fish as he is quick to investigate anything that moves in or around the tank..

Im not actually saying to this person get a mbu, but i mean in general, if you have the tankspace and want a big puffer that will co-hab... go for a MBuflash.dan wrote:Bogwoodbruce wrote:180 gal is actually that big of a tank thats around a 6x2x2. And considering that lineatus usually hits around 14-18" in length it will soon become small and tankmates as food. Could well work in somthing along the lines of a 8x3x2 like our shop display. Although really if you want a large puffer that will co-hab go with a Mbu or somthing. Just my opinion.Homer wrote:I'm not saying stick a Fahaka and another fish in a 125, but what if the tank was something like a 180+ tank... would they be able to then have a tank mate is what i'm curious about...
dont get a mbu just keep the nile they are beautiful fish just leave it by itself. i really cant stress this enough

If only i lived in a place where houses are more of a common and cheaper sight i would definitely love to have gotten a 8X3X2 and a MBU, but sadly living in HK, i don't have the space for such a large tank, and the largest i could ever get would be around a 180 - 200 max or around 7 x 2 x 2.5max

haha would be brill wouldnt it if everyone suggested mbus whenever anyone wants a community puff
personally i would open a mbu sanctuary... to be fair though 2 is more than enough they get through 2 packs of king prawns in 2 weeks my frozen food / bloodworm bill is probably £70 a month now.

Ha ha i was getting down easily 1kilo of bloodworm and brineshrimp per week when i had my 5 baby rays, i had to get them in kilo slabs, even at trade it wasnt cheap.flash.dan wrote:haha would be brill wouldnt it if everyone suggested mbus whenever anyone wants a community puffpersonally i would open a mbu sanctuary... to be fair though 2 is more than enough they get through 2 packs of king prawns in 2 weeks my frozen food / bloodworm bill is probably £70 a month now.

Sounds cool. similar to dwaines home. I'd try and refraine from planting with a ray as they'll just get uprooted. Also keep as much free swimming space as possible. what species of ray you got?flash.dan wrote:Bogwoodbruce wrote:Ha ha i was getting down easily 1kilo of bloodworm and brineshrimp per week when i had my 5 baby rays, i had to get them in kilo slabs, even at trade it wasnt cheap.flash.dan wrote:haha would be brill wouldnt it if everyone suggested mbus whenever anyone wants a community puffpersonally i would open a mbu sanctuary... to be fair though 2 is more than enough they get through 2 packs of king prawns in 2 weeks my frozen food / bloodworm bill is probably £70 a month now.

went to birmingham sea life centre yesterday half way roud i asked do you have any freshwater tanks? the member of staff replied - yes its all fresh salt water.........
Yep.... i looked at him gone out..... they had a huge porc and a overfed dogface i mean he was way too fat. appart from that 1 yep 1 freshwater setup..... amaz
on$ biotope ((APPARENTLY)) well i agreed with laticep, motoro, flower and leopard rays, and the RTC and the ripsaw catfish. but the 2x xingu chilli red arrows didnt look to amazon to me.... nor did the 7" clown loach i spotted either..... sloppy so so sloppy. oh actuallly i lie thety had 2 FW tanks the other was roughly 14x6x5 and it had...... emperor tetras and cardinals.......
WHAT A WASTE!!!!
the fish looked healthy so there is obviously some people behind the scenes that know there stuff but the rejects they put fronting the whole thing... unreal...... i found out lion fish are "community fish" also so accurate info on the read outs.... but saying that there were in with other fish to be fair....... they were baracudas tho haha
overall...... £36 and two hours of my life i wont get back
