My Puffers: Winston the Mbu!

Moving!

Post by Irisis »

We have finally got a date for the move to Belgium! 1st of May we have the keys to our new place, which is bigger than originally planned and so bigger tank for Winston coming soon! :D

Decided to keep Winston in his current tank until I've settled in here as I'm having difficulty finding one I consider to be big enough for him with all the extra space! I go back to England on Tuesday where I will begin to pack and prepare for the move, and of course see Winston :D he's been getting lonely while I've been away recently (even though my mum is looking after him for me!) so I'm really happy I can finally bring him too :D

We found out Friday evening that we've got the place and so yesterday of course we rushed to the LFS (great place), bought another tank, equipment and plants to ensure we were ready and prepared for when I bring Winston over. The owner from the LFS gave me loads of the shop's filter media to put into my tank and so it was ready to go in an hour. :D

Only problem was that as we were leaving some small fishes shooting around one of his tanks caught my eye, none other than dwarf puffers! Of course I couldn't resist, and so we are now the proud owners of 5 more puffers, bringing our total up to 6 8) they are still very tiny, only about 8-9mm including tail! I *think* we have 2 males and 3 females, but I am unsure about one of the possible males! They are still so young its difficult to tell  but after only 10 hours in their new tank they are all happily munching on frozen bloodworm and showing off to everyone 8) awesome little guys! :D names and pics to come soon!

We couldn't resist...went back to the LFS and got all their remaining DPs, so now we have 12! They'll be getting Winston's current tank in just over a month, which is going to be like an ocean to them :D

I have also started to teach the owner of the LFS about puffers and how to look after them...remembered me from the other day, turns out they don't get many english-speaking girls who come in requesting pufferfish to be caught in a bag rather than a net in the part of Belgium  I think I'll end up being their knowledge source for puffer info once I am here permanently 8)
