I Just Got My First One!!!! (Dwarf Puffer)

be aware.. those little puffs will kill each and every snail in that tank. If the snail is too big, they'll just eat as much of the snail as they can.. squeezing their little bodies into their shells.

I had an ammonia spike due to all the snails that I didn't realize were rotting in my tank.

Yah I know, I put them in there for the puffers to eat, I have only put 3 small snails in there.

Just wanted to mention it, since I thought the DPs would leave the giant (compared to them) snails alone..

They ate all three snails and now are working on three more . I did take the empty shells out btw. So, I was just wondering how much and how often to feed them? And with what foods? Im going to get some worms.

So, I got red worms, and they are not the least bit interested. I hed the worm in there and all they did was look at it. Any suggestions as to get them to eat?

Soak it in garlic.

Were they live? They seem to be the most picky about live food....

Yah the worms are live, I think they were just to big and the puffers didnt think they could eat something that big lol. I just bought some frozen bloodworms and frozen brine shrimp and Im going to try that. Wish me luck!

A mollie was in a breeder box in the puffer tank till I could rehome it and it jumped out of the box and into the tank with the puffers! There have bin no problems so far so I just left it in there.

O and I just got some new live plants. And the puffers are doing good, they have grown a little and I can tell one is defiantly a male.

So I tried the brine shrimp and no luck then I tried soaking it in garlic powder and still no luck. The only thing they have seemed interested in are snails.

I soaked my brine shrimp with smashed up garlic.

I have 4 DPs. All but one ate the brine shrimp.

Yeah, your garlic powder is probably really salty, and of course it's not fresh. Crushed cloves or Garlic Extreme are probably best.

All three of them now love bloodworms . Threy are still not interested in brine shrimp, but I got some fresh garlic and I might also try frozen shrimp. They still attack snials I put in their tank and today I saw the biggest puffer attack one of the ghost shrimp in there. Yes! their killer instinct is coming out
