I tried puting my new 13" mbu in with my 17" mbu Ziggy. They seemed to get along well for several hours. Then I saw the smaller mbu repeatitly swimming tward Ziggy and softly ramming her in the side.I left them be,for all I knew he could just be asking her for a 'date'.The next morning the new mbu was happily swimming all about the tank and Ziggy appeared to be affraid to come out of her corner. When she wouldn't come out to eat the experiment was ended and the new mbu was removed.......I am surprised they didn't hit it off.Ziggy is so easy going I was quite sure the smaller mbu would not be picked on.But I never thought the smaller one would be so dominant.
I think others have observed that the younger Mbus are more feisty, perhaps when she is older and calmer they will be able to be friends Vidoes of Mbu in the wild show the larger ones resting near each other.
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.

Thanks for sharing these pix with us, can we see some vids of them? even if you've seperated them
That nudge you explained that the small one did that's what Naboo did to my SAP Bollo the first time they fed, it wasn't a violent nudge just a soft nudge. It must be what they do to show their dominance
He's never done it since and they've been happy together for as long as I've had them
That's it I'm getting an mbu. I've only had my fahaka for a few weeks but he is satan incarnate. I wasn't really too keen on watching him live in a 125 gallon all by himself. After seeing yours together and those angelfish I'm gonna get an mbu or two (or four) and build a pond for them. Lucky I live Hawaii.

and i don't think you got the point of this post lawone, she had to separate them due to aggression, i'm surprised she even got that far as mine would have ravaged another mbu in it's tank

That is what I was expecting with mine.Perhaps the new one had a bad prior experiance or just has a bad attitude. But I'm not giving up with the plan of two mbu together.

That may be true but I have already taken more drastic action. A friend of mine had a Small 5-6" Mbu in his 750 gallon tank.He has some larger fish and his mbu was intimidated.I proposed a mbu swap and now he has a larger and more outgoing mbu for his tank and I have a meek little guy to grow. This little guy is a riot to watch darting alover the tank.It may be a long time before this one gets a playdate with Ziggy but growing him up will be alot of fun.

Nice one
Can I see some pix of the new little guy
Also why don't you put him in with Ziggy so that he's used to being with her, or do you think he'd also be scared of her?
