vacation?

Post by lauren705 »

I'm new here, so i'm sorry if this has been asked a million times...

I'm going out of town next week for eight days, and will not be anle to feed my two GSPs. i called a pet store, that told me they should be fine without food for the week, but MIGHT show violence to eachother. i dont know if that means they will eat eachother. i was wondering if anyone has left their puffer for a few days without any consequences??

thanks!! :D

They won't eat each other, maybe nip at each others fins or so. What size tank are they in and how much decor do you have in it?

I'd get enough decor in there where there are lots of broken lines of sight. I hope they are still tiny--otherwise, that tank is way too small for 2 & then yes, there might be problems of aggression as they get hungry. Are you sure there isn't a friend or neighbor you can't trust to drop in a cup of pre-measured freeze dried plankton/krill for them every 2-3 days? I have an 85 year old neighbor who feeds mine.

You could put a divider in the middle of the tank to seperate them while your away

I'm not sure but you could maybe get an automatic fish feeder and fill it with dried krill. If the krill is to big and won't fit properly just rip them into smaller pieces

I have to go out of town too for about 8 days. I have a small porc. "Moe", he's about 3" long. My plan was to feed him well the morning I leave, then I was hoping he would feed on his tank mates while I was gone (sounds kinda cruel for the tank mates). :?

I have hermit crabs and snails of various sizes along with a few pieces of live rock. I really don't trust anyone to come into my home while I gone.

Should I stock up more on shelled tank mates for the week? I heard that dried krill isn't good for them. I could use some advice, please.

I think Dried Krill is ok once in a while from what I've read, I'm sure 8 days of it wouldn't hurt

Could always toss in a bunch of gut-loaded ghost shrimp before you leave. I found a place that sells 100 for $22.

I thought that link might be a bit of a teese but maybe you can find out what that SW species is.

Yeah, I am googling it right now!

But, I am sure knowing that there is a marine species helps a lot. You guys in the U.S. are lucky, it seems all the good stuff is over there! ;)

Live Aquaria sells them as "White Shrimp" (Penaeus vannamei). I wonder if this is the same thing?

I still can't find it over here though.
