Is a 10 gallon tank large enough for one irrubesco or lorteti? I know that puffers are generally messy but I really don't mind doing weekly water changes if need-be.
I have the tank all set up, live plants, it's still cycling though. I know I can get dwarf puffers but I'm really like the looks of the somewhat larger puffers. I do want to get a larger tank when I buy a house but right now, a 10 gallon is all that works for my space.
Also, My pH seems to be stuck at around 7.6 (it comes out of the tap at that level), I put in a neutralizer but it didn't budge, I don't want to put too many chemicals in the water unless I know I have too... is 7.6 too high for either of these species? I read one website that said neutral to 7.8 is good but I just want to make sure.

Like trekenk said, 20 gals. But about the pH, a constant pH is better than the "ideal" pH. Fish prefer the stablilty of the alkalinity over something that fluctuates..

You can throw 3 DP in there, but the other, somewhat larger ones need 20 gallons +

Wow, that's nuts! I guess it just seems like 20 gallons of tank is a LOT Of space for one 2.4" fish...
I guess what is confusing is that puffer pedia lists the F8 puffer as a fish that gets to be 3" but only needs 15 gallons and the SAP at 3" needs 15 gallons, but for a Red-Eye puffer that get's to be 2.4", they need 20 gallons?! What is so different about the fish, do they like to explore more or something?
