The thing that gets me most about that thread is not andywg (as even though the majority are aware of some of the things he clearly believes are ok are instead wrong its still his fish) but instead the idiot defending something he knows nothing about clearly because hes known of the original poster on 'forums' for years and would quite clearly like to suck his ball bags!!!

At least one good thing come out of the thread.....I found a forum full of like minded Puffer lovers. 8)

One thing about that thread that is really annoying me is Andy+Andy are constantly mentioning post count when nobody else is (not that I noticed)

Oh my, we may need to play with the word censor a bit more ;)

I haven't read the thread, but I'm sure I can imagine. Okay, how can you not consider a porc a puffer? Pufferfish is a COMMON name for crying out loud, not scientific. It describes a type of fish that inflates with air or water (whichever it is in at the moment) when threatened, or sometimes just when praticing. Doing something to provoke a puffer into puffing certainly is pretty much the definition of "stressing your fish".

Reminds me of a "discussion" I just got into with this old southern redneck on a horse forum.. someone was having issues with their goldifsh they'd just bought their kid, something like five commons stuffed into a 3 gallon tank. This guy was telling her all kinds of crap about them, horrible info, etc. I stepped in, gave her some goldfish care sites to check out and gave a short explaination of basic care (tank size, clean water, good foods) and left it at that. The guy jumped all over me yelling about how he has a degree in biology and used to breed goldfish commercially and knows a heck of a lot more and I should shut up with my bad advice.. his advice to her was things along the lines of "to tell a male from a female, take the fish and squeeze the abdomen really hard, if white stuff comes out, that's sperm and its a male". Okay, and its too hard to just look at the anus or watch for breeding tuber-whatisits for crying out loud? She asked if it would her her goldie that she accidently fed it a pea.. I told her fruits and veggies are good for them, he jumped all over me for that and told her he didn't think it was good for them.. ugh! Damn know it alls! I just kept repeating, do your research and pay attention to the fish, you don't have to listen to either of us, but please just research keeping goldies if you want them to survive. I think all the fish died *sigh*

Unfortunatly only pictures of it around September time last year prior to problems and the sad event of near on wipeout (only managed to keep the Purple Tang) because of some very costly mistakes on my part with moving over to a new tank.

This is how it was and it pains me to look at these as the majority of fish had been with us from very young and for many years, were all but a few hand tame and it was generally the complete FOWLR for me.

We started the restocking program in December as Mr Purple was getting a little lonely (or maybe becoming Queen bee and we got slightly worried he would not letting anything else into the tank ) and all has been well so far........Some cracking fish we have in there so when i get time i will take some updated snaps.

I have a couple of the juvi Queen (not that great as they were taken of my iphone) as i was trying to get him ID'd not so long ago as im still not sure whether he is true Queen, a Blue or a bit of both.....His markings are very in between, seems to have some Blue in him and some Queen.

Will definetly get bsome proper pictures up soon.

I'm sorry, but - check me on this one - I was under the impression that swimming in your fishtank was bad for the fish...?

Giblethead.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

actually i do! It's a good reef forum, and usually i'm very happy with the care and attention given to tanks over there... but being a reef forum they don't feel the love for 'non reef friendly' fish... ie puffers..

I have noticed a trend towards coral care over fish care, like one idiot keeping an ocellaris clown in a 15 litre 'tank' with a bunch of corals because he wanted to impress the forum with his ability to keep a 'pico' tank.. and people oo'd and ahh'd over the tiny corals.. but no one mentioned the fact that he was essentially keeping a clown fish in a bucket!

This 'grab your puffer' one is the only other post i've had issue with, as i said, puffers rarely feature on the forum because of their love of eating corals. :)

still think pufferforum flashmobbing would be funny though.. I may suggest it in 'lounge'

Cruelty!!!! CRUELTY!!! Would he like it if I said squeezing you is fun cause it makes you puff up! Even though I'm stressing you out. He shouldn't OWN a puffer fish.
The only thing you should eat that smiles are goldfish crackers.

That guy is anoying and id feel much better if a giant grabbed him and squeezed him till he walrus his pants. Kindof like he does to his fish.
