Hydrometer

Post by m3m0ri35 »

I need some help with hydrometer

I recently purchased one from petsmart, and when i check my water, is it below 16 ppt, i was wondering if the hydrometer is broken?
I added some marine salt into my GSP tank, but after 2 mins waiting for hydrometer to adjust, nothing seem to happen. Do i need to calibrate these thing?

Is it the kind with the swing arm? If so, you have to make sure there are no bubbles on it...
Can you specify what you're trying to do?

Just take it back if you can and buy yourself a refractometer. More expensive but trust me, you won't regret it.

and it might depend on how you added the salt to. You might already be aware, but just in case, you should mix it in water first before adding it to the tank. I second the refractometer, you can find reasonably priced ones on ebay, they work great...i think between $30 and $40. Much more accurate than hydrometers.

Does it start at 1.000?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...
