Which do I want for a 55 gallon GSP tank?

Crushed coral with aragonite?
or
Aragonite sand

Also, how much will a need for my tank? 15lbs or 40lbs? The external measurements for the bottom of the tank are 4' 1/4" by 1' 1/2"

you need around 40 lbs of either.

that will get you a 1.5ish" deep bed if you are using crushed coral id go less at maybe 30 lbs

I prefer the sand as its easier to clean and doesnt trap debris. i use crushed coral in the sump so it does catch debris yet is out of the way and so the gunk isnt visible

I'd go for sand.

I went for the sand. Which is good, cause it was 20$ off! Free shipping! :o

There is no place locally that carries or will order either crushed coral or sand. :(

Thanks for the replies.

Southdown tropical playsand @ some home depots and lowes is 100% aragonite sand for about $5 for a 50# sack- really white and pretty.
