So how long did it take your puffers to start to recognize you? Any cute stories to share? I have had my figure 8 for a month now and he is still shy....bummer. He is still a baby and super cute so I don't mind!

Naboo my Mbu has started coming to the front of the tank when I sit in front ot it :)

He's also started coming to the top of the tank when I open the lid

I think I've only had him maybe 1 1/2 weeks

It was as soon as he ate from my hand, I suppose any puffer you get just has to learn that it's you he gets his food from then you'll be his best mate :)

Two months later my 2 F8s recognize me. I thought they were angry with me to put them into the tank.

My last Stars and Stripes was a nightmare.....Constantly begged for food and would munch mussel for England (by hand only, didnt want to know if he had to work for it) if given the opportunity.....His character and personality right from pretty much go and then through the next four years was like nothing else iv ever kept.

My new juvenile Stars and Stripes (which we have had for just over a month and half) is slightly less bold, hides a fair bit and only really comes out when he wants feeding. Still eats from the top of the tank mind and is a good eater and in good shape so maybe as he gets older he will get more bold.......Still he definetly recognises us when he wants food mind.

Shelby bolts to the tank whenever I'm near. My valentini sometimes does but not always. My dp has been very interactive lately too. Even the porc at work comes to greet me when I walk by.
For the porcs to get to know me it took... not long at all, a couple days. The valentini about 2 weeks. This dp about a month and a half. I've had some recognize me after 2 days

my DP's zoom right up to the front of the tank every time i go near them now. they look at me and then their little eyes dart up to the surface looking for some tasty snacks. even when i'm just cleaning their tank they swim right up to the siphon, look at it, then look at me like "what is this thing, there's no snacks in it, why are you tormenting us like this?" lol. my smallest is a little shy, but she still come to the front to say hi (sneaks her way through the rocks though so the other two won't see her and then sort of hides out of the view of the others in a cave that's right next to the glass and watches me as i watch her.)

My fahaka knows what time I get home from work. My cats come out of hiding and Annabelle (fahaka comes to the front right corner of the tank). Elvis (stars & stripes) will come to the front of the tank and watch the door way until I walk in. But then again Elvis watches everything. My husband said he knows when I'm almost home, he starts seeing puffers and cats. It didn't take long for any of them to start begging. I would say less than a week. :D

I suppose my f8 is just a shy puffer! haha....much like me so I understand his feelings. He has recently started begging for food tho since I read the article on how one day a week I should skip feeding him.

I've had my 2 F8's for about 6 months now, and they only come to the front when they see I have blood worms. Otherwise, they keep shying away :( .

My 2 GSPs were friendly from the moment they went into the tank. They always come to greet me.

My Valentini was shy for the first two days, but now he is the first to come and see me in my marine community tank.

My GSPs have been friendly from day one. My DP is still yet to come around though. I've had her for 3 weeks and she is still very shy and acts like she doesn't like it when the big scary people come around...
