Naboo the Puffer hasn't moved

Post by puffertt77 »

Hey All

I'm new to the site so forgive me if I make any stupid mistakes

I just picked up my Mbu Puffer who I've named Naboo (after the The Might Boosh character:)

He's just sitting in the same spot and to be honest he's more intressed about what's going on out side the tank :)

The markings on his body are grey at the moment but his head is dark.

I tried to feed him cockle with out the shell and he wasn't that impressed and left it, I also tried droping snails in front of him and he didn't fancy them either!

Whilst I was counting all the snails I got from the lfs in a bag I did hear a crunch come from the tank and he had munched one of the snails I put in there

Is he just getting used to his new gaff?

How long do you think it'll take for him to start swimming round his new tank?

I've attached a photo of him (sorry not a very good one as my camera phones not focusing properly lately)

Please reply with any thoughts

Thanks

He's probably still adjusting, within a few days he'll be eating and swimming all over.
He's a very nice puffer, what size tank is he in?

he lloks fine at the moment. Youll find he will change colour all the time depending on his mood usually. give him a few days mbus can go a week or so before youll have to worry too much. try some king prawn soaked in garlic over night.... my two cant resist the,.

I would love to see him fed up a little more.... chubby puffers are much cuter :) hes a beauty though

Thanks for replying guys

He's still very dosile, I poured a bag of live blood worm over him and it's like he doesn't even know they're there?!

He just gently moved away, it's like he doesn't know what to do?!

Like you said though I'll give him a few days, He was in a tiny box tank in the lfs on his own so maybe he's getting used to being with other fish (even my tiny glow tetras nipped him)

At the moment he's 3.5 inches and he's in a 4ft x 1.5 ft x 1.5 ft tank (around 250 litres),

As he gets older and BIGGER I'll get him a larger tank to cruise round in (I read they can get close to 2 ft:) My dream would be for him to have his own room in the house where I can just make half the room into a tank :)
