now... being a medical person you should know that doing 180G of shots would be A . VERY . BAD . IDEA!
So... ton and a half .... plus the cabinet... (how much would the cabinet weigh?)
WOULD STILL GO THROUGH MY FLOOR! No?

Re: Used Tank
Well, if ya didn't do it all in one night.... 1 liquid ounce=1 shot booze......23,040 fluid ounces=180 gallons....it would take roughly 64 years to drink that if a person drank one a night....t1gerbee wrote:now... being a medical person you should know that doing 180G of shots would be A . Now, same idea, if I could pour and empty a shot glass, say, two times a minute... it would take 11,520 minutes to fill the tank or 8 days of straight filling and pouring to fill the tank that way. Just in time for a 50% water change!
A ton and a half would probably still go through your floor, or at least rearrange the structure of the downstairs apartment walls.
The cabinet would only add about 100 - 150 lbs depending on how it's made. I make mine to withstand small explosions and minor natural disasters and it takes a good demolition crew days to disassemble it so, they tend to weigh a little bit more than most.

the ton and a half was a very generous estimate for everything including a sump

Put up a 6' tank and you just may have one!t1gerbee wrote:rubbish... i want a ground floor flat. Boo Hoo....
Seriously, you should go buy a bunch of jack posts, wrap them in brown linen, put some palm leaf shaped stuff on top, and give them to your downstairs neighbor. Hand him a bunch of coconuts and tell him to pretend they're palm trees. Liven up the place!

As for fish, I'm looking at some Triggers and an eel of some sort to go along with a Porc.
Here's what I'm trying to decide amongst:
http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/productD ... 04&cid=288
http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/productD ... 07&cid=288
http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/productD ... 08&cid=288
http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/productD ... 623&cid=17
http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/productD ... 620&cid=17
And this specific Trigger http://www.liveaquaria.com/diversden/It ... ddid=54706
It'll probably be a pair of smaller triggers, an eel, and my Porc or one larger Trigger, an eel, and the Porc. Either way, the Porc is the show piece of the tank.

Re: Used Tank
ooooooooooooooooooh... NICE!
I like the zebra eel (sorry edmlfc1) it's so striking! The whites would really zing under actinics! Some of those triggers look so wierd with their big rubber lips... llike they're swimming round looking for a smooch..
halfmoon is very beautiful though, although something very aesthetically pleasing about the pink tail..
180G tank, you lucky, lucky man.

Re: Used Tank
I'm really leaning towards the Pink Tail and the Lei Triggers along with the Zebra eel and Porc but that will be pushing my bioload to it's max. I may have to pick between the triggers...or I could go get this 250 gal I've got my eye on
The pink tail is the number one choice though, it's absolutely beautiful and its mellow enough not to rip up the tank but aggressive enough to survive the Porc.

This is meant in the nicest possible way, but i'm really starting to dislike you and your ability to have impossibly large tanks.Dadof4 wrote:or I could go get this 250 gal I've got my eye on![]()

Re: Used Tank
You see, it'll just show up in the house one day full of fish. When the wife sees it I just say, "Honey, look what followed me home! Can I keep it?" I'll then casually walk out of the house, grab a blanket and pillow, and go sleep with the hounds for a few days.t1gerbee wrote:This is meant in the nicest possible way, but i'm really starting to dislike you and your ability to have impossibly large tanks.Dadof4 wrote:or I could go get this 250 gal I've got my eye on![]()
Actually, I have a cousin that married a stone mason and a brother-in-law that is a carpenter. They are my foundation experts and cabinet makers. I usually have to make trade offs to get these big tanks though. To get my 180 gallon I had to get rid of one of my cars ('67 Mustang Coupe) I was restoring so she could have her parking spot back on the heated part of the garage. This 250 gallon is from one of the local Universities. The bio Prof. retired and he had this tank running in the department lab just for show. My dad does maintainable on some of their equipment and saw it sitting empty the last time he was there and told me about it. A high school friend of mine is a Eng. Lit. Prof. there and I had him inquire as to what is going to happen with it. "We're trying to get rid of it but no one wants to move it, we may end up destroying it", was the reply he got. I may take it and put it in storage at a friends place for a while until i can find room for it.
As long as I mentioned my Eng. Lit. friend, I may as well give him a shameless plug. If you're in to Fantasy/Fiction he has a book out that is the first in a trilogy, second book sue out soon. The book is very good. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/075640 ... oding=UTF8 (end shameless plug)
