Somethings wrong with Elvis

Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.
1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.
2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.
3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)
4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.
5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.
We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.
While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.
Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

A few pictures of Elvis.
Elvis trying to hide under the fake log.

And as promised.........Elvis sulking in the corner and Chong trying to comfort him.

Btw: I had a good look at his fins and the spots are going away. There are still some spots but not nearly as many as there were just two days ago.
He only did one nose dive into the sand last night and I haven't seen him do any nose dives this morning or this evening.

I see Chong's belly looks a bit full. Don't feed these guys too much when in QT. You'll haver enough ammonia/trite issues as it is, than to be dealing with all that additional poop.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Just got home and test my water. Ph 8.2, Nitrate 0, Nitrite 0, Amm. 1. Doing a water change right now. Too bad they don't make bio-spira for brackish.

Elvis looked much happier last night and this morning. He must be getting some relief. He still has some spots on his fins but they are slowly going away. Another water change scheduled for tonight.

Re: Somethings wrong with Elvis
are you using a hydrometer? Is it accurate? Can you get it checked at LFS... ?
Only from what i've read, the shell surrounding the parasite (the white bit) SHOULD explode at 1.009 ... there's shouldn't be anything left if you're in hypo...
that's how i understood it, but i may have got it wrong.
Just don't want the ich to be surviving that's all... best check that SG..

Re: Somethings wrong with Elvis
I'm using a refractometer. I'll check it tonight to make sure it's right. I just checked it about a week ago and had to adjust it by 3pts. Anyway I forgot to mention: No more excess slime coat! And his eyes are clear, no spots, and no more nose dives into the sand bed.
I'm wondering about the spots on his fins, he's had spots on his fins before and it took about a week or so to go away. It could be that instad of ich. That's what I originally thought it was. Sorry I don't have a name for it.
He get's it pretty often, about every few months then they go away. They're not white bumps like ich, more like yellow spots, not raised and it never seems to bother him. They just show up one day, get bigger and bigger, then they start getting smaller and smaller until they disappear looks more like yellow freckles on his fins. There's just more of them right now. It might have something to do with stress, not sure. I had posted about it before and I was told it was nothing and they would go away. They did so when they came back I never worried about it. This time it was different, heavy breathing, squiniting eyes, nose dives and excess slime coat. I had a bad feeling it was ich this time and I was right. I had another look at his gills last night and there are still no spots on them. I have never seen any sign of ich on his gills the whole time. His body looks ich free, no more spots on his body. I think the spots on his fins may be his mystery freckles.
edit: And the blochy skin is gone!

Re: Somethings wrong with Elvis
all in all he sounds alot better, mystery freckles or not! (I remember the previous posts about fin 'freckles')
I was just worried that the ich hadn't gone away, because you do not want to go through ALL this hassle for it not to work.
Do you think he's ok in himself? Is he swimming around etc.. you posted lots of resting pics, can we have a swimming pic... just to calm the nerves a little?

Just kidding.
I'm at work for another 4 hours. Once I get home I'll post a fts with Elvis swimming around.
edit: to answer your questions, yes he is swimming around, his color looks much better and little chong follows him everywhere he goes.
