IS IT OK?
is it ok if i put a powerhead on mi gps his in a 10 gal all alone his ok i have with him 3 months i was going to buy a 29 gal but i have to save up for my university in february.
my puffer is at 1.10 salinity and i have a hang on filter for 15 gal and an air pump, if i put the powerhead can my puffer stand the current it moves 160 gal per hour at max level.
and if i put the power head is my puffer gonna be more healty since the powerhead moves the water and theres gonna be a lot more circulation in it?
i have a gps about 2 inches

Uh, what?
Wow, what is it with the lack of spelling and punctuation lately...
Okay, so you are saying, Ithink, that your puffer, a GSP, is at 1.010, in a 10 gallon tank. You currently have a filter for a 15 gallon tank (do you know how many GPH that moves?) and want to know if its okay to add a powerhead that does 160gph max.
I would say yes, you'd be okay adding it, but obviously watch your puffer for stress and remove the powerhead if its too strong. Give him some decorations to hide behind and get out of the water flow, like a stand of fake plants or a cave or something, and if you can, turn the flow down on the powerhead.
Be sure the powerhead has a guard over the intake, so the puffer doesn't get sucked in!
You could probably turn off the airstone, with brackish water it will splash salt all over and make a mess, possibly damaging furniture.
As far as the 10 gallon tank, you know its not nearly big enough and you need to either find a new home for the fish or get your hands on a bigger tank (a 29 really isn't truely big enough, they only hold 25 gallons). Watch things like Craigslist, Freecycle, tell people about your new pet, etc. You wouldn't believe how many people tried keeping fish and gave up, and have empty tanks sitting in their basement...
In the mean time, I hope you're doing big water changes weekly or bi-weekly to keep that little guy healthy.

Re: IS IT OK?
sorry for my spelling im from tijuana so..my english is kind of crappy.
correct my filter moves a 100 gph, the powerhead has a little swith that adjust the flowrate and it has a sponge that works as a filter, if i put the powerhead is my puffer gonna be more healty?
i know about the tank 30 gal minimun but i recall i have to pay for my university, but i really want my puffer to be ok right now he seems that hes been doing ok but i know 10 gal is to little.
all the people i know laugh at me because they think that i give to much atention to my puffer (even my girlfriend) but i know that they dont know that this fish is a dificult one so i dont care.
and about the water changes 30% every 3 days

Your puffer will eventually become unhealthy in that 10g. As Myaj said, please reconsider keeping your puffer in that size tank for long. I understand college is much more important than a fish but this IS a puffer forum, none the less!
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Re: IS IT OK?
I don't think adding a powerhead will make him any more healthy really.. a 100gph filter on a 10 gallon tank is perfect so you are good there.
You can try it, he might like the extra current or he might not. Would I suggest spending the extra $$ on it, no, I'd save that $$ for a bigger tank.
I know going to school is very important, but if you can't provide a proper home for an animal you should probably find it a new home.
In the mean time, yes, big water changes every few days will keep your little guy happy and healthy.

Re: IS IT OK?
im going to buy minimun a 20 gal they where selling me a 40 gal in 50 bucks and i had like 500dlls but i spend it alrready in stupid things
so im down to 0 again, i dont want to give away my puffer, i know a little about puffers i know that theyre brackish, need extra filtration and hardy food for the teeth, but here in tijuana everyone has like teen goldfish in a 10gal the point is that to little people here in tijuana knows how to take care of fishes they just go to the store and pick the prettiest one without nowing there needs, when i bought my puffer they had some in salt and others on fresh i picked one on fresh and i intend to make him saltwater, i really like fish i want a reef but theyre expensive so ill have to wait for the moment, when i went to the pet store looking for snails for my puffer teeth i told to the owner and he laught at me and when i bought the puffer (on the same store) the guy told me that you can have like 4 in a 10gal so i cant give it to the store either ill have to buy the tank, panchito is in better hands with me i think.

Just keep up with the water changes like stated above and save the money for the 29 gallon. 20 gallon and 29 gallon is not that much of a price difference. Watch the newspaper, check garage sales or search craigslist for a one. I see them all the time, they are not that hard to find. And I know that Tijuana is not that far from San Diego Ca.

Something else you could try is Freecycle, you have to join and set up a Yahoo e-mail account but It's worth it. There's no charge for anything on the site. This is a place people go to give stuff away instead of throwing it in the trash and also to ask/find stuff that they need. I've gotten many different items off our local one, including aquariums and I've also given away a lot of stuff. The closest group to you is San Diego http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sdfreecycle/. It's a wonderful site.
