well i think today is the worst day ever i got a phone call from the wife to say that there was a waterfall coming from the front room ceiling and that my sap tank had about 6 inches of water left in it, so i raced home when i got there it was down to 3 inches so i baged all the puffers up plec,and the other fish.

I have nine other tanks in the house but could not put them in any of the nine as they all have puffers in them, so i thought to my self where can i put them, then the phone rings its my lfs to say the bits i ordered had come in so i told him what had just happened and he said that he will clear one of his big tanks and to bring them round now, so i droped them of there and went back home to find the wife running around with buckets and all the towels in the house soaking up the water from the tank well after an hour or so the water stoped leaking from the ceiling. So i called the insurance people told them what happened thinking that they would say that i was not covered for this but they said i was, so i put the claim in and as i was doing this the front room ceiling came down and loads more water all over the tv the dvd player, camera, sky box, and the wii. The girl on the other end of the phone said you are having a bad day and that she would get someone out now so the moral of the story dont keep tanks upstairs

I am sorry to hear about that. I can relate as massive tank flooding has happened here several times. It's best when you are in this hobby seriously to buy a commercial shop vac. I hope that the insurance can cover it.

My insurance will only cover it if it's vandalism. You got lucky on that. I know what it's like to have a huge tank bust. My 160 cracked right up the front. Luckily I was home to catch "most" of the water. I used a shop vac and a steam cleaner to get all the water out of the carpet. All my tanks are downstairs. But yes a shop vac is the best investment we ever made. Hope your day gets better.

Oh no I'm sorry to hear that. We had water coming through the ceiling this morning as well actually, luckily it wasn't that bad though. Good that the insurance covers it though. And it's good to hear you have an lfs who will clear out tanks for you in an emergency, some would just say "tough luck" and then you'd be really stuck. I hope the days to come are much better for you.
