what not to do

Post by DRRT »

i thought i would start a thread of what not to do in your tank.

if you have a sand burying wrasse, do not clean the sand overzealously and accidentally break the spine of your fish with the siphon. :(

leave the lid open even if the only fish are puffers, they jump too
i'm busy thinking of ways to remember what i was going to say

Do you mean "leave the lid closed"?

I hear that... my poor little Pistachio jumped out of the tank yesterday when I was a bit too slow getting his food to him. I freaked, lol. Thank goodness he didn't puff!

Here's another "DO NOT".....Do not assume that everything is running perfectly, even if it is chances are you'll do something that will cause this to fail! Check everything TWICE!

This is a voice from experience, I did a water test all levels were as they should be, I fed my fish a shrimp and immideately afterwards there was a nitrate explosion. Ended up doing an 80% water change. The fish (Shuo) was fine, but totally pissed at me. Ignored me for a week afterwards.

yup, what not to do, do not leave the lid open

also, do not

place a micro filter on the tank input to catch juck that comes off the plumbing because it backs up and overflows the filter

stick you finger in the cave of a niger trigger especially if the rocks are the same color as the fish
i'm busy thinking of ways to remember what i was going to say

Do not trust that your skimmer won't overflow all over the stand and floor after you check up on your fish on Dec. 26th, 2008. :P

*Sigh*

Do not try to put hornwort or anacharis in your brackish tanks, they will melt and shed needles and little leaves everywhere.
