Fahaka will not eat

Post by Spitfire »

My new fahaka arrived 3 days ago, he immediately munched on a prawn but second day was not interested. so he had nothing that day, then i tried a muscle and there was no reaction. the water parameters are the same so why is he on a hunger strike?

I dont think it is uncommon for puffer especially larger ones (not sure how big yours is) not to eat, it can also take them quite a while to settle right in. i wouldn't be too worried just yet! hunger will get the better of him sooner or later!

Some puffers won't eat for a few days here or there, and especially after a big stress like moving to a new home.

Let him be for a few days, then try offering some food again. My turgidus often goes 6 days without eating just because he doesn't want to, other days he wants food every single day for 5 days in a row. They are finicky sometimes.

Fiund a nice, juicy earthworm for him. That's what I used to get my fahaka out of his tank-moving funk.

Have you checked his water parameters lately? How big is his tank?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

100 gallon tank. He is starting to eat a little prawn but not much. He seems to hate muscle?

I will try an earthworm later on.
