anybody use or recommend prime water condtioner? it was the more expensive bottle of conditioner at the store and i've heard some people like it but we'll see if it works better than my api stress coat plus

I use prime, it is the most cost effective way with large tanks as you use alot less of it!

I only use prime in my tanks. It might be a little more expensive but one capful treats 50 gallons. Other stuff one capful treats 10 gallons. You get more for your money.

I found a thread around here somewhere, asking people what they use. Most use Prime.

I was introduced to it by a co-worker who'd been keeping fish for 30+ years...and that was ~10 years ago. I've been using it ever since, never had a problem with it.

I do occaisionally use AmQuel+ ... because I won it in a raffle, and to help with an occasional nitrate spike while the new water is mixing.

I've found prime works very well, as does amquel+, but honestly, I typically use API tap water conditioner now. It has pretty much nothing but sodium thiosulfate and heavy metal binders in it, and is about twice as potent as prime while costing a bit less for a notably larger bottle. I typically use products with the least possible number of extra ingredients. I avoid stress coat entirely because the aloe skunks my purigen permenantly, in addition to hyperactivating my protein skimmer and being designed to fix a problem I never have, damaged slime coat due to netting(can't net puffers, just chase them into cups with nets). Prime is definately a great product, and I like having it around in case of mystery nitrite or ammonia spikes, even though I don't use it for most of my water changes.

My absolute favorite dechlor is the one made by Yamato Green. It has nothing extra in it, all it does is dechlorinate, and you can dump in the entire bottle by accident and not have to worry about it hurting your fish.

However, it needs to be mail ordered and I always forget until the last minute.. so I usually pick up Prime instead. I actually prefer Amquel, since the smell of Prime gags me, but since they came out with Amquel + you can't find the original any more.

Go with Prime! I use it. For all of my tanks from freshwater to marine. It works like a charm:)
