Coming up on three months and my fugu is doing great. Weathered a cross-country move and seems to be doing even better than before. He is starting to warm up to me and swims around more now. He used to be very skittish and stayed buried most of the time. Hoping this trend continues. I would love to be successful in keeping him. He absolutely loves crab meat and shell on shrimp. I try to feed him live food as much as I can, which is quarantined first. I do this not as a diet staple, but as something to keep him entertained. He is a voracious hunter. Most successful of any puffer I have kept. I watch this fish and feel sorry for having him in a glass box. Some animals were not meant for captivity. I think with the reslults everyone else has had that this is just one of them.

what kind of puffer is it?

takifugu ocellatus the holy grail of puffer keeping.

No one has sucessfully kept them alive for any decent length of time.

they are generally considered dead as soon as they are caught as they get maybe 6 months at best then die for no reason....

onebad's attempt is also trying a few interesting tricks so we shall see if it works.
