Mbu scared of the light LOL!

Hey guys, in continuation from my recent post I was just wondering how long it tends to be for a mbu to settle in. I have had Ruffy 2 weeks now and he still hates the light. I rescued him from a pet shop for 5 pounds and he had White spot. He seems all clear now (fingers crossed) but still hates any light. When the light is off he spends his time amusing himself by blowing jets of water at his friend the snail so he is upside down, then waits behind him on the sneak till he comes back out and then bites him. So he must be happy enough, just hope he isn't going to hate the light forever as it's a shame we can't see such a beautiful creature gracing his transit size tank in all glory

Depends on a number of factors... how hes been treated previously, what he is usto and most importantly his disposition and personality

i have 2 mbus bubba is gentle and quite shy he will gently take food from my hand... cutie pie is the opposite and is wild in every sense of the word i hand feed her to be i have to move very quickly as shes very very exitable.....

i think after about a month he should settle in slightly better. just get to know your puffer a routine usually helps my blue leds / daytime lights are on a timer so they get usto the lights going on and off at certain times. feed them at the same times dayly also. it all helps.

Another suggestion is to cover the back and sides or add heavy decor on one side of the tank to make him mor secure.

Hey, thanks for the advice, his aquarium has loads of décor and places to hide. He also has the back covered so I'm ok there. I was just looking tonight and I haven't yet quite managed to get rid of his white spots, has anyone got any advice on this as I have been treating him for over a week now and I hate putting chemicals in. The White spots are weird because they have never been on his fins just tiny little perfecty severical balls on his body and belly. Any clues anyone?

how old is the mbu and are the spots raised?

I don't know exactly how old he is buy he is about 3.5' from nose to tail end and yes, the spots are all raised.

mbus can get spots naturally that are raised and come and go which are easilly mistaken for white spot, my larger mbu is prone to getting them usually associated with water quality or stress. can you get a good camera to take a picture of them? youll need to establish weather it is white spot or these. either way i would get temp up to 27 degrees add aood amount of oxygen and keep ontop of params and cleaning if your reluctant to use chemicals
