I know that GSP's can make a churping noise almost like a frog. Well last night and this morning I kept hearing that noise. I thought for sure it was Chong. When I would turn around the noise would stop. Finally I turned when they were making the noise and it was not Chong at all! It was Elvis. It looked like he had the hiccups! Can fish get hiccups? Or was he just trying to get my attention? If he was it worked! I tried to grab a video camera but he stopped as soon as I came back before I could even turn it on. This has got to be the funniest thing I have ever seen him do. Has anyone else seen this behavior?
He almost sounded like a frog. But when I looked at him his bottom lip kept going in and he would make the sound at the same time. It was so cute! He looked like he had the hiccups.
Shakespeare sometimes makes this noise when he chews on argonite sand for isopods... I think it may be produced by rasping the bottom half of the beak across the top.

Yeah Blinky (GSP) makes noises with his beaks too when he clamps his jaws shut with force. He would do that at the sight of food, or just for no reason sometimes. To me he sounds like loud "zhsszzzssh zhssssszzzzz" and not particularly like a frog, so it might be a different kind of noise.

Ooo! That's cool! I know my GSP will make little sucking noises to get my attention. Didn't know they could chirp:) He he, that'd be funny to see.

I was looking for a post just like this!! My figure 8 makes chirps almost every night around 11. Its like a clicking buzzing mix. Its really cool, but i jsut wanted to make sure i wasnt crazy lol. I have a GS and F8 in a tank together, and when they get a bit scrappy Duke chirps at pook to get em' to back off lol.
lol that is really close to the sound that mine makes, except he does it at night. usually after i shut off the tank light. They are right by my bed so i hear him when i go to sleep lol. He did it once when they were grouching at each other too.
