After a few disasters, we finally brought the little guy home.

When I went to check on him in the store, he was all scared in the corner...but when he got removed from the QT Tank, he brightened right up in the bag.

He still has some stress lines, but I think those will go away as he settles into his new home.

So, here he is! My new GSP, in a 32gal BW aquarium 1.005 SG, fully cycled, and running a Rena XP2 filter, a powerhead and 2 100w elite brand heaters. some plastic plants and white/blue gravel substrate and a pumice rock.

He was so eager to get out of the bag he was butting against it and trying to bite his way out while acclimatizing. good thing the LFS lady double bagged him.

Oh yeah, getting a new camera for Christmas, so I'll be posting pics of my Dwarves and my GSP that acctually LOOK good! hah

Excellent, he looks a decent size already, is he 2" yet? You also might want to consider placing the heaters horizontally near the bottom of the tank - they're more efficient that way, becuase heat rises, they turn on and off less often, for the same reason, and that way, you don't risk them breaking or their thermostats going off if you forget to unplug them during a water change.

not fully submersible... :/ And I can't risk him chomping at the cords either.

He's been in the tank about an hour now and his stress lines are going away. He's really really happy in there.

Hmm, maybe double check the packaging, I'm 99% sure we sell that heater at the LFS where I work, and it's full submersible. Does it have a big round ball at the top, and a knob that lets you set the temperature? I'm not sure how big GSP need to get to be able to eat through cords, but Shakespeare, at 4", can't damage them quite yet, though I can say, the bites are starting to really HURT when I'm hand feeding and he's off target. I hope he's not able to anytime soon, becuase the powerhead cords in my tank are exposed and I'm not really sure how I'd guard them. I'm glad he's looking better, has he started begging for food yet, or still in exploration mode?

And yes he's swam up to the glass and begged for food too Gonna give him a bit of Krill tomorrow. Gonna pick up more and more snails each week so they can breed right up.

He's roughly 2" Nice size, very happy.

Gonna overhaul the DP tank yet again sometime in the next two months. Looking for a better light for my Hood (ELITE brand..uses compact fluro) before I put more live plants in there. Right now I just took all the dying plants out and put the plastic ones in...*sigh* Might need to get another lamp in the hood to brighten it up or something...

He just decimated a piece of krill. I acctually had to wake the lil guy up for his breakfast! hah. He was just curled up floating around...all sleeping. I took a pippette and started putting some tank water in a shot glass to thaw his food out and he woke right up. lol

He's got stress lines again, but I attribute that to just being woke up, and well my SG is .005 what he was in was .004 so despite taking 1hr to adjust him he probably is still adjusting.

I'm pretty sure that is next to no adjustment difficult, I doubt you stressed him at all. At work, I often take GSPs at low brackish 1.006 to full marine in a half hour because it's all there's really time for, and they don't seem bothered by it at all.

seems pretty moody lol Stresslines show for very little reason. Tank params amm 0 Nitrites 0 and nitrates 5ppm

I think it's because the lights are bright...We have a power glo and a day glo...gotta take out that power glo for another dayglo I think...he doesn't like it much....

Day glos are very bright, (in my opinion oogly) yellow light, like desert noon sun. I'd say thats possibly what's stressing him out, it's not like any normal lighting for water - it's really best for viewing desert reptiles, I'd say. Try leaving JUST the power glow, the color of the light might be what's weird for him.

Congrats - a specific gravity of 1.012 is still very much brackish though FYI.

He's a good-looking GSP, will look even better once you get him fattened up a tad. Welcome to the forum!
