Help me stock my 20g!

Post by pinkfloydpuffer »

Hi
In about 2 months I'm going to get the 55g for my two gsps. When they move out I'll have my 20g brackish open, and I'd like to make it a figure 8 puffer tank. Would 2 of them work in there, or just one? And what about bumblebee gobies or other tankmates?
I'm fine with just having one lone f8 if that's what'll make him happiest. :)

I would think that if they were any where near adult (3"), 20G would be too small for even one. If they're very tiny, possibly two, although a singleton would certainly be better overall.

1 F8 would be very happy in there, and yep BBGs will usually, from what I hear work with them too. Not sure about stocking for the BBGs though.

Ok, I was leaning towards just one anyways. What I've heard is 10-15gal minimum per f8? So I'll go with one. I suppose I'll have to research the gobies first before I decide on them, but hey, I've got 2 months. Lol

You guys really think 20 is enough for an adult F8? I would think they'd want a 30 at least, even for a singleton.

Yeah, I would think so. I have Frank, a singleton Figure 8 in a 29 gallon tank and he looks lost in there, even with his 3 little male endler buddies. He spends most of his time either hiding in his driftwood pile or begging for food at the glass.

Granted, it makes keeping the water quality good a lot easier to have him in a tank that big ;)
