just a few questions about a red eye puffer

Post by Ifoundnemo »

i very recently aquired a red eye puffer but im not sure exactly what kind he is..he looks alot like the pictures of Carinotraodon salivator but it also says in the profile that theyre commonly mixed up with lorteti and irrubesco puffers. he really dosnt look like the irrubesco pictures though..is there any way to tell exactly which one he is? and would he be ok in a 45 gal with a synodontis eupterus? or do i have an excuse to buy myself a new fishtank for christmas? >.>

You do know the care for any of the 3 are exactly the same? It's hit or miss, as to whether he'll leave the catfish alone or not.

lol i just like to know what my fish are..its a geeky habit? n they seem to leave eachother alone so far but i dont know if i should be worrying about the long run..synodontis eupterus can be a bit mean and are suposed to be kept with cichlids but puffers are a bit mean as well...the first thing my puffer did when i let him into the tank was nip the catfish once and go on exploring n he hasnt even acknowledged the catfish since and the catfish hasnt bother him yet either..should i be getting him his own tank? or would it be safe to wait it out at least for now? im still not 100% sure hes gunna survive considering the pet store was trying to feed him flakes and he was pretty emaciated looking =/ hes fattening up pretty quick though n hes starting to look healthy so im thinking he might be ok =)

I totally understand, it's just that it it literally impossible without a pic.

Even with a pic it's sometimes hard to tell, especially with females.
